Objectives of the South Wales Network

Members of the SWN must decide what they want from the Network and how they want it to be run. The Network cannot tell u3as what they must do and the Third Age Trust cannot tell the Network what to do. The objectives include:

  • To establish communication links for u3as within the Network.
  • To help u3a Trustees, Interest Group Leaders, u3a Chairs and committees and other volunteers to collectively share their knowledge and expertise with other u3as.
  • Sharing best practice and discussion of issues of concern. Generally, u3as helping one another and getting advice from other u3as.. This is a key element of the Network and should be an item on every Agenda.
  • Zoom meetings. No travel or hall hire costs so we can have more meetings including shorter more focused ones in addition to the usual General meetings. Eventually we may go back to (some) face to face meetings but there does not seem any desire to do so.
  • Inter u3a competitions. Quiz, Bridge, Mah Jong, Skittles, Badminton, Table Tennis etc.
